The Commonwealth Serum Laboratories was established in Australia in 1916 to service the health needs of a nation isolated by war. CSL Limited was then incorporated in 1991 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1994.

Since then CSL acquired a number of businesses including CSL Behring.

CSL Behring can trace its corporate roots back to Emil von Behring, an innovator with serum therapies who won the first Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine.

The combined histories make CSL the innovative global company it is today.
