Normal Immunoglobulin-VF is a preparation of human immunoglobulin for intramuscular administration.
Normal Immunoglobulin-VF is prepared from blood obtained from voluntary and non-remunerated (unpaid) donors. Normal Immunoglobulin-VF contains proteins called antibodies which can provide protection against some infectious diseases when given to people with low levels of antibodies in their blood.
It is also used to help prevent infection by viruses such as poliomyelitis, hepatitis A, and measles in people who come in contact with these viruses.
Normal Immunoglobulin-VF is available only with a doctor’s prescription.
The Product Information for Normal Immunoglobulin-VF (NIg-VF) lists all indications approved by the TGA, and these are also described in the Consumer Medicine Information for NIg-VF.
The National Blood Authority has introduced access criteria for the appropriate management and use of NIg-VF supplied under the National Blood Arrangements, which vary from the TGA approved indications for NIg-VF.
Please refer to the National Blood Authority’s access criteria for NIg-VF when requesting NIg-VF for your patients.
